WE WON OUR UNION!
NOW, LET’S WIN OUR FIRST CONTRACT
Now that we won our union election to join 1199SEIU, we want to be ready to begin contract negotiations so we can have real job improvements in writing as quickly as possible. Your opinion is essential in helping to prepare for our negotiations. The coworkers we will chose to represent us as negotiating committee members will need our thoughtful responses in order to best address our issues and work out solutions. Please fill out the form below to share the issues you want to prioritize in our first contract:
What Can We Win Together? Hear from 1199 Members:
“I am proud of our 1199SEIU membership. We stood strong and were able to secure a contract that includes a 15% increase over 3 years, health insurance with no out of-pocket costs, and On Call increase of $15, then $17hr. This was a tough win, but a win!"
Dawn Cholewka, Garnet Health Middletown, Surgical Tech
United in 1199, healthcare workers have fought for and won:
✓ Excellent benefits, including affordable healthcare
✓ Strong job security, including protections from layoffs and subcontracting
✓ Some of the highest wages in the country, with guaranteed annual raises, clear wage scales, differential pay, and more.
✓ More Paid Time Off
✓ Retirement security
✓ No-cost training and education opportunities to advance our profession
✓ Safe staffing
✓ Respect and a voice on the job!
“After we voted yes by a landslide, we carried that momentum into our negotiations with Northwell. Less than six months later, we have made real progress towards a contract that includes the 1199 Pension and Healthcare funds: the strongest retirement security you can get, and free family health coverage. Now, it’s your turn to fight—and win.”
Jesse McDade, Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Northwell Health Laboratories
